If you’ve been thinking about booking a boudoir session and you’re searching for a Columbia SC boudoir photographer, one of the very first questions that usually comes up is:
What should I wear?
And honestly? That question alone stops a lot of women from booking.

They imagine needing a whole new lingerie wardrobe or worry they won’t know what looks good on them.
The truth is much simpler.
You don’t need a suitcase full of perfect outfits. You just need a few pieces that make you feel comfortable, beautiful, and a little bit bold.
Many of the women who travel from Columbia, Lexington, Irmo, and across the Midlands to my private studio near Newberry tell me afterward that choosing outfits was the part they stressed about the most.
And it ended up being the easiest part.
Let’s talk about what actually works for a boudoir session.

You really can’t go wrong with classic lingerie.
Lace bodysuits, bra and panty sets, and soft robes photograph beautifully because they create texture and shape without feeling overly complicated.
Columbia style tends to balance Southern elegance with modern confidence, so pieces that feel romantic and refined tend to photograph especially well.
Think:
• lace bodysuits
• satin slips
• matching lingerie sets
• sheer robes
A lot of clients tell me they’ve seen beautiful pieces in boutiques around Devine Street or the Five Points area, and those kinds of classic styles translate beautifully into boudoir photos.
But remember — the goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is finding something that feels like you, just elevated a little.

Not every boudoir outfit has to be lingerie.
Some of the most powerful images come from pieces that feel relaxed and natural.
Things like:
• an oversized sweater
• a loose button-down shirt
• your partner’s dress shirt
• a soft cardigan
These kinds of outfits create a softer, more intimate feeling in photos.
They’re also perfect for easing into the session if you’re feeling nervous.
A lot of my Columbia clients actually start with a cozy look like this and then transition into lingerie as they get more comfortable.
By the end of the session, most women are amazed at how quickly their confidence grows.

As the session progresses, many clients want to lean into something a little more dramatic.
This could be:
• a structured bodysuit
• heels and a robe
• darker, moodier lingerie
• a statement piece from the wardrobe
This is where the transformation really starts to show in the photos.
You’ll notice your posture change. Your expression changes. You start to see a version of yourself that feels stronger and more unapologetic.
That shift is one of my favorite parts of every session.
One of the biggest misconceptions about boudoir sessions is that you have to buy all new outfits before your shoot.
You absolutely don’t.
My studio includes access to the Bare Babes Wardrobe, a carefully curated client closet with over 200 pieces ranging from XS through 4X.
Many women traveling from Columbia and the surrounding Midlands communities choose to mix pieces from the wardrobe with items they bring from home.
Others use the wardrobe entirely.
The Bare Babes Wardrobe includes things like:
• lace bodysuits
• romantic robes
• soft sweaters and cozy textures
• delicate lingerie sets
• statement pieces for a more dramatic look
Before your session we’ll talk through outfit ideas together, and when you arrive you’ll have time to look through the wardrobe and choose pieces that feel right for you.
You’re welcome to bring your own items, use the wardrobe, or do a mix of both.
The goal isn’t to create a costume.
It’s to create a session where you feel comfortable stepping into a version of yourself that already exists — just without hesitation. Learn more about the Bare Elegance Experience here.

Most clients bring three to five outfits.
That gives us enough variety to create a range of looks without making the session feel rushed.
A typical lineup might include:
During the session I guide you through each look step by step, so you never have to wonder what to do next. Even if you don’t bring any outfits at all, we will have plenty of options.
You don’t need experience in front of the camera.
That’s my job.
Although my studio is located in Newberry, South Carolina, many of my clients come from Columbia, Lexington, Irmo, and across the Midlands.
The short drive allows you to step away from your everyday routine and into a completely private experience designed around you.
Many women tell me the drive becomes part of the experience itself — a chance to breathe, reset, and prepare for something that’s entirely about them.
And that’s exactly what a boudoir session should feel like.

Here’s the thing most women realize after their session.
The outfits matter far less than they expected.
What really matters is the moment when you stop overthinking and allow yourself to be seen.
That’s when the real transformation happens.
